Same Message, Different Voice

Have you ever struggled with finding your voice? It's like you know the depth is there, you can feel in your bones the all-out pressure of a soul that is about to burst with truth...but you actually have no idea how to put shape to it all?

So you diligently make the effort, seeking the Lord about your own uniqueness, and what He is wanting to speak through you. And as you seek God, His Spirit shows up and gives you clarity. You know in your heart you have something to share (or do, create, accomplish). But then JUST as you begin to open your mouth (or begin to type, publish, etc.)... you are smacked in the face with someone else saying the exact same thing!

It's the same message, different voice.

Doubt comes in like a rolling storm.

This has happened to me, more than a few times. Just when I seem ready to press "publish," I read my words in someone else's voice.

When this happens, I instantly feel small, insignificant, and honestly: not really needed.

"Oh....Someone else is saying that, my voice isn't needed. She just said (did, created, etc.) what I was trying to articulate.... but so much better... I shouldn't go through with this."

So then I don't hit that publish button. I don't follow through with what I knew the Holy Spirit was leading me to do. What was birthed in a truth moment is stolen by a lie moment. The lie? The world doesn't need my voice.

After one such occasion, the Holy Spirit gently nudged me to begin to probe into these emotions. Why the sudden doubt? Didn't I lead you here? I spoke to you, have you already forgotten?

I am still learning to ask the question, "Why am I feeling like this," when I find that my emotional well-being suddenly begins spiraling out of control. Many times, we (um, me) allow emotions to dictate our responses and actions. But we must develop the habit of figuring out if our thought processes are rooted in TRUTHS or FALSEHOODS. The Lord is so faithful to follow through and give us wisdom.

As I meditated on this emotion, I began to realize this...

Thinking I have some brand new revelation that the world needs to hear can be rooted in pride.

Pride puffs up and gloats in the genius of our own ideas.

Love builds up others, is honest, rooted in truth, and shares from a place of humility. It is not worried that someone else 'said it first' or 'said it better.'

So the Light shines in and highlights my own prideful idea that what I am going to write, speak, say, or do has never been done before.

Maybe what you are about to say has NEVER BEEN SAID BEFORE, EVER, EVER, - - - cool!

BUT maybe it has been done or said 1,000 times, recently. We still need to hear YOU say it.

You have a unique expression for this world. You have been created in the image of God, and reflect an aspect of His glory that cannot and will not be seen in any other person on this planet, ever before or ever again in history.

This is how big God is.

Ephesians 2:20 states:

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."

That word "workmanship" can literally be translated as His "masterpiece", and each one of us is a masterpiece, uniquely created and uniquely gifted to display His glory on this earth, in our specific time.

Like the beams of light reflected off a multifaceted prism so each one of us reflect a unique aspect of God's beauty and creativity. Your light stream matters.

You have a unique expression for this world. You have been created in the image of God, and reflect an aspect of His glory that cannot and will not be seen in any other person on this planet, ever before or ever again in history.

In a masterfully woven tapestry, millions of threads come together to create something that provides warmth and beauty to all who use it or look upon it. Not only are there many different colors, the ones that are the same color are in another part of the tapestry, another section, another scope. Are you following me? They are in another realm of influence. Even one thread that is missing or is coming unraveled affects the overall picture.

Your words matter. Your voice matters. Your idea, business, dream, your actions and expressions of God's heart, are needed in YOUR community, in your current time.

Without them, there is a gaping hole.

The world needs my voice, as it needs your voice.

There is a passion in each of us that the world needs to hear. If we truly believe we have been created uniquely and on purpose, why would we think our voice doesn't really matter? We shouldn't. That is a lie and is not rooted in truth.

So be YOU today. Let your voice be heard today. Go pursue that dream on your heart. If God has called you to say something, say it. Say it your way, in your personality and style, and no one else's.

The more people in your circle and realm of influence that hear your unique and authentic voice, the more others are inspired to share theirs.

You are His masterpiece, and the world needs to hear you.
