The walk that would change our lives and her life forever! It was something I had replayed in my mind over and over since this journey began. I had dreamed about the days and months leading up to this exact moment in time: the moment we would meet our daughter for the very first time. My husband and I discussed on the bus on the way to meet her which of us was going to video it, who should pick her up first... all of the little details.
The large bus carrying three other families was too big to make it down the tiny streets of Kunming, China. We were told they would have to park and we would walk the rest of the way. As we exited the bus, I felt tiny butterflies in my stomach. We were completely out of our comfort zone but yet we had this overwhelming peace, which might have been the first time I had ever completely felt that. It was a walk of complete confidence. I wish I could say things have always been that clear. It was the confidence can only come from our Heavenly Father, I knew we were walking in His perfect will for our lives at that point. As we got closer to the Civil Affairs office, we noticed two little girls standing by a lady near a car. My oldest son said, “Mom, that's her!” We sort of froze for a minute. This wasn't exactly how I pictured it going, but things rarely are how we picture them and isn't it amazing how perfect it ends up being anyway? Praise God! Our little plan of who was going to do what went out the window. We can replay things over and over in our minds on how we think things should go, but if we just release that desire, how much more freeing is that? It’s faith my friends!
Our lives are full of these decisions. How will we respond?
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Often I bargain with God whether I should or shouldn't do something. If you’re in that position right now where God is asking you to do something, it doesn't matter how small or how big it is. If you are questioning whether you should or shouldn’t do it... do it!! The time is now! There is no greater joy and no greater peace than walking in his good and perfect will. Go in confidence, hold your head high, and know you are walking in your purpose. All to the glory of God. There will still be moments of fear and anxiety but it’s time. We need to stand out and rise up!
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Be still to listen, yet be on alert to what is going on around us. Be confident when He gives you the direction!
If you or anyone you know is considering adoption, I would love the opportunity to talk about our journey. We have been home with our sweet girl since Sept 26th. She is doing amazing. She brings so much joy into our family and lights up a room! Feel free to read our blog for updates!
Meet Sarah Stoltzfus
I want you all to meet Sarah Stolzfus. Sarah and her husband, Dan, and their five kids live in a small town north of Dallas. Sarah has a heart of gold. She is hospitable, an includer, and may be one of the most down to earth people I know. Sarah loves the Lord and approaches His plans for her and her family with a humble steadfastness. Sarah has been the mom to four boys and within the past few years the Lord directed her and Dan to adopt Brooklyn, their only daughter. Watching their "YES" to His call for adoption has been a privilege I do not take likely. I have been inspired by their open arms, their sacrifice to bring home Brooklyn, and a trust in their God to take care of all their needs. You can follow their adoption journey here. I asked Sarah to share a part of her journey and am honored that she is sharing such a sacred moment with us. Thank you, Sarah! - Jamie
