Refresh Stories: Amy Pierson
I first met Amy at my Wednesday Bible study. We are currently digging into Hebrews and James using The Passion Translation, and it’s been so refreshing to dig into the word with like-minded believers. We decided to take one of our meetings further and get some practical training on how to share the gospel in any situation. This is where Amy comes in. Amy is a missionary in every sense of the meaning. The only way to explain her passion for people meeting Jesus is to say she sees them the way God does. He wants His people back in relationship with Him; there is nothing more important.
Amy and her husband were trained and worked as missionaries with East West Ministries. They trained in New York City for several years and worked with unreached people groups, seeing many come to Christ. At that point, East West asked if they would consider moving back to the DFW area to be a church planting catalyst for unreached and unengaged groups largely because the face of the metroplex is changing daily. DFW is actually the fastest growing metroplex in the U.S. The Pierson's did not expect to be promoted back to their own city, but hearing those numbers encouraged them to move back and get to work. They also train and send other teams to global cities like New York and Los Angeles.
Amy’s heart for her region is to sow as much seed, mobilizing the local church to reach every part of their city. This way she and her family can move onto new regions where the gospel is not reaching all of the lost. In her time in DFW, she and her family have helped local churches commit to reach every neighborhood in their community by the year 2020.
That is her passion; to train and activate people to go out and start sharing, not necessarily based on only their specific gifting, but the shared gifting we all have as believers. We all carry Good News around with us daily, and people need to hear it. Amy sees Mark 4:26 as a specific visual of the Kingdom of God: our job is to sow seed. We may not know how it will sprout or when it will sprout, but it is our shared responsibility. We need to share the Good News with someone so they could be set free!
One of her favorite things to do is train and equip people to start sharing the Gospel and below you are going to get to see her in action. Amy has made a video training for us at REFRESH and we are excited to share this practical tool with you!
In Amy’s own words, “It’s not about fishing for men to get the Father’s heart, it’s about getting the Father’s heart and becoming a natural fisher of men. The promise is if we follow Him, He will do the work through us. The enemy has us busy and distracted and we wonder why we feel off or unfulfilled. We have neglected our identity. We have gotten far away from scripture. We look at it for tips on living but not our core identity, but this identity brings us the peace we need.” Ladies, be blessed by the following videos and watch with a friend if you can, so you can practice on each other!
