Maybe you woke up today and life greeted you like a fight.
Maybe when your feet hit the floor it was hard to stand because the weight of today bore down on your shoulders like a dark and heavy cloak.
I understand. I’ve been there.
So how do you keep going when you want to quit?
Girl, you’ve got to stand up.
You’ve just got to.
Stand up and strap your sword to your side and don’t give up.
Don’t give up.
The world is sleeping and the devil wants you to sleep, too. He wants you to feel tired…
He doesn’t want you to be awake, to have your eyes open and alert, to be ready to take on the task you’ve been given.
Sleep. Sleep. Be heavy and afraid and tired. Give up. Give up. I will rejoice in your surrender.
These are his fighting words, fiendishly crafted to sound like rest.
To sound like the only thing you can do because you’re too tired and defeated to do anything else.
But that’s not true. Come on now, girl. Pick up that sword. Pick it up in your weak and shaking arms. Pick it up and just say…
JESUS, how I need You. How I need Your strength. I cannot face today alone.
Then sit. Sit with Him, sword in hand. And let Him breathe on you.
Let Him infuse strength into your trembling limbs. Let Him lift your weighty cloak. Let Him open your eyes to see the truth…
He is FOR YOU.
He has A PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE.
You are WHERE YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE.
And this life, the one that stared you down like a fight when you opened your eyes this morning – this is the life that He promises will hold purpose beyond what you can ask or think.
So move forward today. Let the Lord strengthen you.
I promise you…
As you put one foot in front of the other…
Today, yes, even today, Jesus will touch your heart.
And He will remind you how REAL He is.
And He will bring you back to life.
All that He asks is that we have faith and trust Him – to be tenacious and persistent to not give up and to trust Him.
Trust that when the storms come and the punches and kicks rain down and when the unexpected happens, He is faithful.
It’s that first step forward, that standing up from your bed and picking up your sword, that moving forward in your day even though everything in you is screaming to give up, it’s THAT. That is where strength builds.
Come on, girl, be strong and courageous. That strength today might look like it did for me – just get out of bed, get out of your house, and go do what God has given you to do today.
And I believe – I fully believe – that even though our circumstances don’t change, our willingness to take up our swords, to fight the heaviness, and to move forward – that will lead us to rolling hills of grace that stretch out within our hearts like abundant life.
This is where we stand. This is who we are. Our foundation is Christ – not circumstances. Our truth is the Word of Christ – not the tempting whispers of the enemy.
Oh, let us tap into the richness of His grace! This is our promise! This is our inheritance! Let us not settle for the lack that this world offers. Oh no, oh no, there is no greater tragedy than that.
Our Jesus has purchased LIFE for us with His very life.
He has defeated death and the grave – so we must not live there.
Fight, girl…fight. Fight by getting up and moving forward and soon you’ll realize you’re fighting with a Lion by your side.
And He cannot lose.
So tell me – what will you do today to stay in the fight?
“Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.”
